Eyelid Surgery

Eyelid surgery can brighten and refresh a tired appearance around the eyes. “Blepharoplasty,” or eyelid surgery, can be performed on the upper or lower lids. During upper eyelid surgery Dr. Kinney can remove excess fat deposits and tighten the skin and muscles of the eye. This is beneficial for drooping upper eyelids and severe wrinkling. Under eye bags, loose skin and deep creases can be effectively treated with lower eyelid surgery. It is important to note that eyelid surgery will not treat dark under eye circles, fine wrinkles, and skin texture issues.

Dr. Kinney can combine your eyelid surgery with other plastic surgery procedures like the brow lift or facelift. Eyelid surgery works very well with minimally-invasive treatments. For example, laser resurfacing or chemical peels work beautifully to further rejuvenate the eye area. These types of procedures can address fine lines and texture while eyelid surgery eradicates deeper issues pertaining to skin laxity, fatty deposits and deep wrinkles. Recovery from this operation will take seven to 10 days for most patients. Incisions can be hidden in the inner lash line for lower lid blepharoplasty and in the crease of the upper lid. The incisions for your eyelid surgery will be red and swollen following the procedure. Once this subsides you will see a dramatic difference around your eyes.
