Lasers can be used to treat wrinkles, scars, hyperpigmentation and rough skin texture. The CO2 laser is an ablative laser that gives very noticeable improvement. This type of laser cannot be used on darker skin types. The melanin or pigment in dark skin is sensitive and can scar or bleach easily. A non-ablative laser like the Nd:YAG can be used safely on all skin shades. A non-ablative laser bypasses the top layer of skin and targets the tissue below, making it a safer option for melanin-rich skin tones.
A chemical peel is a minimally-invasive treatment that can brighten and rejuvenate dull skin. The chemical peel speeds up exfoliation in the skin, revealing fresh, glowing tissue. There are many types of chemical peels, which range from mild to deep. To find out about the different chemical peels we offer, please contact us.
Facial implants can augment a weak chin or make cheekbones more prominent. Facial implants are a great addition to rhinoplasty procedures because they can help balance out facial features.
Dr. Kinney is adept in minimizing the appearance of scars, which is known as "scar revision." The type of procedure can be approached using different techniques. A skin flap can be donated from another part of the body and placed over the scar. Another technique called Z-plasty removes some of the rough tissue and relieves tension on the scar. Lasers can also treat unsightly scarring by encouraging the body to make new tissue while breaking down the old scar tissue. A consultation with Dr. Kinney will determine the best course of scar revision treatment.
